Everlasting

I hope that this text is associated with the uploaded picture of Andrew and Carolyn. We don't have too many pictures of Eddie, Cathy, Marty or Connie--just the kids! So I'm letting this picture of our kids laughing and being great friends represent us doing the same! And I’m letting their sparkle reflect my feelings of gratitude that your family came into our lives. What started as a collegial relationship between you and Marty (the very creative teachers at a Houston fine arts middle school) turned into years of fun at each other’s homes!! Cathy, I don't know if you had any idea how many times Eddie and I teamed up to bring you and Marty back from the brink of despair with each new production (Nutcracker and Hansel and Gretel, for example). Eddie would play the bad guy, pointing out shortcomings to get you two wound up enough to figure out what exactly the production problem was and I would play the good guy, attempting to restore the peace and let you two focus on the solution. While Eddie was grilling meats and I was sipping a beverage, we’d listen to you two agonize and sometimes we just had to swing into action!! Not that you couldn’t have done this without us!! We marveled at what you could get out of those kids!! It was amazing!! Well, that’s just one story. There are lots more—many will reveal the lovely blend of mischief and love that kept both couples energized, creative and improving the world in whatever way they could! Others will show a more serious devotion to each other and to that world. My heart breaks to think we won’t relax by the grill with Eddie ever again but the man I learned to know on those lovely afternoons will always be a part of our two families. Our love to you and Carolyn. Connie, Marty, Jen and Andrew Clancey
